Voyaging canoes set sail for worldwide journey.

Following farewell ceremonies with families and friends at Hilo’s Radio Bay, crew members of the voyaging canoes Hokule’a and Hikianalia set sail from Hilo on the first leg of a 47,000 mile journey that will take the canoes to 85 ports in 26 countries.  According to the Polynesian Voyaging Society, the three-year odyssey called “Malama Honua” will “teach the public about the ancient style of navigation called wayfaring.”   You can follow the epic voyage by visiting http://www.hokulea.com/track-the-voyage/.  Aloha, Russ.
